My name is Clarence Cheng. I’ve been playing violin since 8 years of age. I was influenced to play the violin by watching violinists who were not only influential, but listening to them made me want to pursue music. I started my classical training at the age of 12, after doing my years with the beginner program Suzuki. I was taught by Jacob Lakirovich, whom I studied with for 6 years. I competed in various music festivals and competitions and have received First Honours. I furthered my music experience by performing with orchestras, chamber music and doing gigs. After high school, I went and enrolled in Humber College for their jazz program. I didn’t finish because I fell into more practical practices than theoretical teachings. I then finished my Performers ARCT in the Royal Conservatory of Music. I continued on doing my own practicing and even picked up on electric guitar in the year 2020. Because of my musical trainings, I was able to pick up on the basics of playing guitar. I play various genres from Classic Rock to Modern styles, especially in Blues.
