Biography:

Scott Jackson is a Canadian Beatboxing Champion who has wowed audiences internationally and domestically for more than 15 years. His superpower? Recreating any sound with only his voice, from the squeaky creak of a door hinge to the chopping blades of a helicopter. Jackson, now arguably Canada’s most celebrated beatboxer, enters his second decade as an internationally renowned live entertainer, music composer, and impressionist.

Jackson first burst onto the national scene in 2012 as a finalist on Canada’s Got Talent, where he impressed the judges with his
beatboxing skills.

“There’s an insanity to [his] talent,” commented Martin Short at the time. “I have no idea what’s going on up there, [he] was singing and making a sound with one set of vocal cords. It was spectacular.”

Since then, his fandom accelerated with appearances on Daily Planet, CP24, CBC’s The National, Breakfast Television, MTV Canada, and Nickelodeon, where he added voice actor to his credits. Soon after, Taco Bell and Old Spice caught on too, commissioning Jackson for various advertising and community-focused events. In 2010, before the national acclaim, Jackson set the unofficial world record for largest beatbox ensemble.

Jackson’s passion for sound began as a child. Born and raised in west Toronto, Jackson’s origin story starts with memories of his late grandfather impersonating Donald Duck. As a teenager, he became familiar with the work of famous beatboxers like Rahzel, Doug E Fresh, and The Fat Boys as he began to recreate their routines.

But that’s when the music stopped for Jackson. Bedridden for months after an unexpected illness stripped him of his mobility, Jackson couldn’t do much but play with his voice. Jackson took the time to practice mimicking instruments and building
up his breath control. Mentally, Jackson put his energy into manifesting his future as a world-class performer. Itching to show off his new skills, as soon as he recovered enough to perform, he jumped into high school talent shows and open mics wherever
he could. Even back then, his ability to connect with such varied audiences was a product of both his freakish technical abilities and his affinity for showmanship.

In 2018, he joined electric violinist pioneer Dr. Draw to form “Nemesis,” pushing the boundaries of what can be done with voice and violin. In recent years, Jackson has taken his talents on the road, touring 13 countries, international beatboxing championships and appearing at over 1000 schools where he shares his gift and
inspires the next generation. Commercially, Jackson’s also made the rounds at dozens of sporting events (Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks, Toronto Maple Leafs) and performer festivals. In 2023, The Kingston Busker Rendezvous awarded Jackson the People’s Choice Award.

“Scott’s a chameleon that shape shifts his voice to appeal to any audience member, on demand,” says Alex Narvaez, of Complex Media. “I’ve known him for over a decade and I’m still in awe whenever I see him perform.”

Jackson’s universal appeal stems from his ability to recreate any genre of music and produce sound effects through internal rhythm and breath control. A true master of ceremonies, Scott Jackson’s verbal wizardry is as captivating as it is unique. His passion for beatboxing and performing is obvious to everyone who watches him in awe. From impersonating Donald Duck to international stages to millions of views on YouTube, Jackson’s real superpower? Bringing people together.
