Canadian violinist Jane Levitt is a graduate of the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music, and holds both a Bachelor of Music in violin performance and an Advanced Certificate in viola performance. Jane also holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Ottawa and is a certified elementary school teacher in Ontario. Beginning her professional performance career as a section violist with Symphony Nova Scotia, Jane has also freelanced with various orchestras and chamber ensembles in the Halifax and Toronto area. As an educator, Jane has taught violin and viola at several music schools and currently works with the Toronto District School Board as an occasional teacher. Always feeling a strong connection with popular music, Jane has performed live on stage with many well known artists at awards shows and music festivals. With a newfound passion for the electric violin, Jane specializes in exploring genres outside of the classical realm and loves to put a violin spin on popular tunes. Jane also enjoys working on TV and film projects and has appeared on Breakfast Television, music videos and national commercials. Jane has also performed at Nuit Blanche, the Toronto Fringe Festival and other multidisciplinary productions in the GTA.
