Hailing from Port Hope, Ontario, Ben Storm is a Toronto-based Trombonist currently working towards an Artist Diploma at the Glenn Gould School after earning his Bachelor’s of Music from the University of Toronto. He has been a member of the National Academy Orchestra of Canada University of Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and Royal Conservatory Orchestra, and also performs with the Band of the Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada as an active military musician. He has studied with Megan Hodge and Vanessa Fralick, and is currently a student of Gordon Wolfe.
Ben has been recognized as a President’s Scholar of Excellence in the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music, and has been awarded the B flat Band Festival Bursary, Cobourg Distinguished Civic Award for the Arts, Frank Harmantas Trombone Scholarship, and Thomas MacMillan Scholarship at the Glenn Gould School. Ben has been selected as a finalist in the Hannaford solo competition in 2019 and 2020, and has participated in summer festivals and programs such as the Brott Music Festival and the academy at Domaine Forget.
In addition to performing, Ben maintains an active teaching schedule with brass players across Toronto. When not playing trombone, he can be found exploring Toronto’s many farmer’s markets and shawarma restaurants, or listening to swing era big bands.
