Jack Smith is from the small town of Florenceville, New Brunswick and currently holds a Bachelor of Music from Mount Allison University where he studied saxophone with Dr. James Kalyn and a Master’s in Music Performance from UofT studying primarily with Dr. Wallace Halladay. Jack is a four-time recipient of the Arts NB Scholarship, 2 time recipient of the J.E.A Crake scholarship and the class of 2020 recipient of the J.E.A Crake Performance Award in Music. Jack is also a winner of the Mount Allison Concerto Competition and performed Ibert’s Concertino da Camara with the Mount Allison Chamber Orchestra. He has also represented Mount Allison with Jeunesse Musicales. Additionally, Jack has had the privilege of working with Barbara Hannigan for the past 2 summers as part of her Equilibrium Young Artist Program.
