Troy Morris, an Illinois native, graduated magna cum laude from Webster University in 2015, where he studied classical double bass under the instruction of Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra principal bass Erik Harris. Shortly after graduation, Troy made a move to China where he began to develop his career as a performer and educator. In August of 2016, Troy joined Guiyang Symphony Orchestra in Guiyang, Guizhou Province. After completing the 2016/17 music season in Guiyang, another round of auditions led Troy to Suzhou, Jiangsu Province where he served in the double bass section of Suzhou Symphony Orchestra from 2017 to 2021. After seven years in China, Troy moved to Toronto in 2022 to study with Jeffery Beecher, principal bassist of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, at the Glenn Gould School of Music.
