Dain Carandang is a woodwind doubler specializing in saxophone, flute, and clarinet. He began playing saxophone at 12 years old and attended Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts where he was able to develop his fundamentals in classical music, which helped start his career as a woodwind doubler when he started playing flute and clarinet at 16 years old. Dain is now currently finishing his third year at Humber College, where he has had the opportunity to study with prominent sax players and doublers such as Mark Promane, Alex Dean, Kirk MacDonald, and Johnny Griffith. In his time at Humber, he has also played saxophone and woodwinds in several bands such as the Humber Studio Jazz Ensemble, Mark Promane’s Advanced Woodwind Doubling Ensemble, as well as the Toronto All-Star Big Band.

Dain has also had experience playing in several pit orchestras from various companies for several musicals including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Curtains, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Little Mermaid, and Sweeney Todd as well, playing various combinations of saxophones, flute, piccolo, as well as Bb and bass clarinets in these productions.
