Canadian harpist Andrew Chan has performed across Canada, USA, and in Asia as a solo, concerto, orchestral and chamber musician. He has been featured as an Artist-in-Residence at the renowned Eastman School of Music in Rochester New York.
Concertos he has performed include those by Debussy, Handel, Mozart, Ravel, Rodrigo, and Saint-Saëns. Enthusiastic to expand the harp’s repertoire, he works with composers closely to advocate new Canadian works, including concertos by Michael Conway Baker and Constantine Caravassilis.
He teaches at Harps on the Hill, a specialized harp school in the Greater Toronto Area where many of his students have been inspired and accepted by top universities including Juilliard, Eastman, Peabody, Yale and many others. His students come from internationally and several were prize winners at major competitions in Asia, Europe and the USA.
His collection of harps includes a rare, historical, and well-preserved Erard harp, built in Paris for the Belgium International Expo in 1905.
