Biography:

Composer-pianist Rea Beaumont (RAY-ah BO-mont) is an “internationally recognized interpreter” (The New Classical) known for her powerful performances and beautifully curated albums that highlight important global issues. She has premiered many works in collaboration with leading composers, while her own compositions continue to be broadcast around the world. Beaumont is a leading authority on Canadian music and the recipient of the SOCAN Foundation / MusCan Award of Excellence for the Advancement of Research in Canadian Music, a national award for established scholars. She has also received awards and grants from The Canada Council for the Arts, Ontario Arts Council, British Columbia Arts Council, SOCAN, and Toronto Arts Council.

Former Vice-President of the TMA (2020-2023), Rea is currently a Director with Canadian Conference of Musicians. She represented the Toronto Musicians’ Association as a Delegate at the AFM 100th Convention in Las Vegas (2023, 2016) and the CFM Canadian Conference of Musicians (2022, 2022, 2021). After joining the TMA Board of Directors in 2011 she was the founder and Chair of the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, Chair of Government Relations and Advocacy, and Chair of the TMA Member Assistance Fund Committee, which increased funding tenfold and streamlined the application process. She also served on the Tariff of Fees, Benevolent Funds Policy & Procedures, and Bylaws & Constitution Committees. She continues to advocate for musicians on a national level as Chair of the CCofM Canadian Musicians’ Advocacy Committee.
