Phil graduated from Humber College / School of Music (3-year jazz performance & writing program), and has a Bachelor’s degree in Music from the University of Miami. He freelances in Toronto as trombonist & pianist. He has taught privately & in classrooms. He also arranges & composes music, and performs as music director. Phil played lead trombone & was featured on tour with Maynard Ferguson, and was featured on MF records Carnival & Hot. He also toured with Buddy Rich as lead trombone & soloist. He has also been a featured sideman with David Clayton-Thomas, the Hilario Duran Latin-Jazz Big Band, Gary Morgan & PanAmericana, Crowbar, and was principal trombone for the Boca Raton Pops Orchestra in Florida. Phil has played in various settings including musical theatre, film & TV soundtracks, radio & TV commercials, vinyl records & CD’s, also in piano bars & other venues. He has also booked musicians & performed for ACTRA film shoots. He has led his own jazz & dance bands in Toronto, Halifax & Miami.
