Biography:

Peter Eratostene is a versatile bassist and librarian based in Toronto. He holds a masters degree from U of T in classical performance. Peter is the new librarian at the National Ballet of Canada. He was a member of the 2020 Canadian Opera Company Academy. Peter was a member of the National Youth Orchestra in 2021, 2020 and 2019 seasons. Other festivals/programs include Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute, Prisma, VSOIW, UBC Chamber Fest and Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra.

Peter maintains an active professional career in the jazz/pop world but he is open to performing in any genres with enthusiastic band leaders/composers. He holds and undergraduate degree in jazz from York University. He regularly plays at Poetry Jazz Cafe, Alchemy and Loblaws. He performed three years in the Toronto All Star Big Band. He is a regular member of Dan McKinnon’s blues rock trio and Miles Finlayson’s jazz trio. Peter has also played weddings, studio sessions, and musicals.

Peter owns a variety of basses to suit the needs of your projects:
Double bass with C extension (usually set up with steel strings but he also has a set of gut strings),
Fretted and fretless electric basses (low b, roundwound and flatwound strings, variety of pedals),
Synthesizer for synth bass.
