Biography:

Judith Cohen is an ethnomusicologist, singer and storyteller, specialized in Sephardic and related music, including medieval, as both a performer and a scholar, often combining these roles. Born in Montreal, she is based in Toronto and spends time regularly in Spain and Portugal, as well as Morocco, Israel, Eastern Europe, Turkey and elsewhere. She accompanies herself on tradition hand percussion, and bowed and plucked strings, and also plays renaissance and baroque recorder. She teaches part-time at York University and is the consultant for the Alan Lomax Spain recordings.Fluent in French, Spanish and Portuguese.
