Biography:

Glenn Morley is a Toronto-based composer, conductor, producer, and musical director with an extensive background in music for Theatre, Television, Film, and Multi-Media Productions. He has credits as Composer/Musical Director/Conductor for more than 2000 television episodes and Film projects, garnering numerous nominations and awards. For six seasons he conducted the recording orchestra for the popular C.B.C. Series The Road To Avonlea. He has won 2 Gemini Awards for his scores for the CTV series The Campbells, and a 3rd Gemini for his score for the C.B.C. documentary Who has Seen W.O.? He has also written the themes for a number of CBC TV series including The Nature of Things, Man Alive, Country Canada, and Meeting Place. Mr. Morley was Musical Director for the Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards for 5 years, and, with his partner at Tambre Productions Marvin Dolgay, he created the scores for C.B.C. television’s Royal Canadian Air Farce, YTV’s Freaky Stories, and CTV/PAX Network series Twice In A Lifetime. He composed and conducted the critically acclaimed scores for The Empire of the Bay, Sir Peter Ustinov Inside the Vatican and Golden Will- The Silken Laumann Story, in addition to the Stage On Screen Series, which brought to the screen teleplays of current Canadian dramas. Mr. Morley was Music Supervisor for ABC/Disney’s ‘The Music Man’ as well as the Emmy nominated ‘Martin & Lewis’. In addition to creating the Genie Nominated score for the feature film Red Green’s Duct Tape Forever, he co-produced and orchestrated ‘Canto’, Gino Vannelli’s renowned Classical CD, as well as orchestrating, arranging and producing Alfie Zappacosta’s Album ‘Start Again’. He co-produced Mark Masri’s ‘Intimo’, and has orchestrated/arranged a number of tracks on Amy Sky’s ‘Alive & Awake’, as well as producing the CD of Canada’s Got Talent finalist Tenor Emilio Fina.
In the realm of Theatre, Mr. Morley has been the Composer/Musical Director for more than 80 stage productions in both Canada and abroad. His scores have appeared at the Stratford, Shaw and Blythe Festivals, and he created the score and sound-scape for the acclaimed MTC production of Hamlet, starring Keanu Reeves. He created and produced the score and sound design for the award winning Sound and Light Show seen each summer night for 5 years on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. Mr. Morley was the Musical Director for the Opening Ceremonies for the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal at the Royal Ontario Museum, and Musical Director/Producer of The Canadian Songbook Project at Massey Hall for the Luminato Festival.
Mr. Morley is also active in concert music, having had his works performed by orchestras across Canada including the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Hamilton Philharmonic, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and the National Arts Centre Orchestra. He frequently conducted orchestral engagements across Canada for Holly Cole, and has been frequently called upon by other composers (Henry Mancini, Louis Applebaum, John Welsman, Neil Smolar, etc.) to conduct or produce their film and television recordings, and is the Conductor for the on-going World Rock Symphony Orchestra project.
He is a founding member and past President of the Screen Composers Guild of Canada, and is currently a Director of SOCAN (Chair: TLD Committee). He has appeared as an expert witness representing SOCAN members in Copyright Board hearings regarding television and cable tariffs. He is also a Past President of the Glenn Gould Foundation (current V.P. Project Production).
