In 1968 Abbey won the Quebec Provincial Wrestling Championship in his weight category (92 lbs). In 1969, Abbey attended the Woodstock Music Festival. He went on to pursue a career in the music industry and undertook Jazz & Classical Studies at McGill University. In 1973, he moved to Toronto and spent the next ten years travelling on the road with a variety of pop and show bands. He performed all over Canada & the United States, as well as, The Alexander Pushkin Cruise Ship to Bermuda and a tour of The British Isles with Montreal’s Island City Singers.
